The Gunners have reportedly wrapped up the signing of the forward, having scouted the 16-year-old over the last two seasons.

Malen made a big impact whilst playing with Ajax’s youth squad, which attracted the attention of both Barcelona and Arsenal.

However, it was the latter that stepped up their pursuit of the prolific striker, who is expected to join a 1-year scholarship programme as part of the highly rated youth department.

At such a young age, it’s worth noting Malen has made five appearances on the national stage, after representing the Netherlands Under-17 side in the hopes of following in the footsteps of former Gunners, Dennis Bergkamp and Robin van Persie.

Malen is sure to be another name added to the list of hotly tipped youth stars at the Emirates, with Jeff Renne-Adelaide and Alex Iwobi making big impressions recently.

And although this may not be the big transfer news Gunners fans were hoping for, it certainly shows that we are back in the hunt for new talent.

Wenger has had to deal with two major pre-season tournaments already this summer, and will have had to cut short a lot of transfer talk in the past fortnight.

But with just 12 days before the Premier League kicks off, Malen offers us a sprinkling of hope that the board are working hard to bring a world-class player in soon.

It’s worth noting that Malen’s agent also looks after the likes of Mario Balotelli and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, so we’re more than sure that will spark some fresh speculation.
