2 – Kieran Gibbs
- Interested clubs: Watford, Newcastle United and West Brom
- Asking price: £15million
- Current wages: £60,000p/w
Gibbs has known for a long time that he’s leaving the club but he’ll want to make sure it’s the right move for his personal ambitions – so the Premier League is most likely.
That appears to be the biggest issue at the moment, with a whole host of interested clubs that can’t meet the transfer fee or wage demands he’s currently boasting.
If Arsenal want to push this deal through then they’ll have to drop the asking price significantly so that the club can find some extra cash to support his wages for at least three years.
I can see a move to Watford materialising if the clubs can get back on track from their negotiations earlier in the summer, as it’s hard to see a way back into Arsenal now.
The arrival of Sead Kolasinac and Gibbs’s involvement in the U23’s has suggested he’s no longer needed, and chopping £240,000 a month from the wage bill would be huge!
