Arsenal set to upset fans and sell £8m attacker with Southampton interested

Arsenal appear certain to be parting ways with an exciting attacker that many fans want to stick around.

The Gunners are making lots of sales this summer, or at least trying to, as they aim to raise funds to strengthen deficiencies in the first team. Amongst those up for sale appear to be promising forward Folarin Balogun.

The exciting striker is said to be frustrated by his lack of first team exposure and now the 19-year-old is ready to move on. Brentford have been linked, but appear to not be willing to pay Arsenal’s £8million asking price.

Now, Football.London have said that Southampton are also in the running for his signature, whilst there is interest from European clubs too. Arsenal will hope that with multiple clubs interested, they will be able to achieve their £8million asking price.

With one year left on his deal and no intention to extend, the Gunners will need to sell this summer if they are to receive any fee at all. It is thought that Mikel Arteta and Per Mertesacker value Tyreece John-Jules as the most promising young striker at the club and so they are willing to sell both Balogun and Sam Greenwood.

It’s likely that both Greenwood and Balogun depart this summer and they will be just two of many that Arsenal either sell or loan in a transfer window where major changes are happening, both on and off the pitch.

Arsenal fans who watch their youth football have been excited about Balogun for some time and so this news is going to frustrate many.
