Arsenal are set to sign Mesut Özil in an incredible last minute £42.5million deal. The news emerges just hours after Gareth Bale completed his record breaking £83.5million transfer to Real Madrid.
24 year-old attacking midfielder Mesut Özil has scored 27 goals and assisted 87 goals in the last 3 seasons. He is rated as one of the best players in his position in the world, and did not appear for Madrid when they played on Sunday afternoon.
Arsenal are also hoping to sign Emiliano Viviano on loan which should be completed early on on deadline day and the club could also look to loan a striker, with Demba Ba mentioned. The option to sign Yohan Cabaye remains there, but Newcastle are demanding a deal worth in excess of £18million – a figure Arsenal are not prepared to meet.
