The Gunners have been linked with the 23-year-old on multiple occasions and now reports are becoming heavier in the media due to Arsene Wenger’s dilemna.

By the end of the season it looks incredibly likely that both Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Flamini will be waving goodbye to the Emirates Stadium, and now Arsenal are on red alert for another holding midfielder.

But following a host of names hinted at replacing the defensive midfield duo, Joao Santos has spoken out to confirm the rumours of the clubs interest in his client.

One of the head scouts of Arsenal is well-known, and so I know he was at Marassi for the Napoli match.

Jorginho has found himself in a very similar position to Francis Coquelin, and has had a couple of breakthrough seasons to cement his status as an important figure in Serie A.

Standing as one of the leagues most exciting young players, the Italian has made 38 appearances for Napoli since joining the club back in 2014 for a total sum of €10million.

All of the signs point to this interest being legitimate, with the defensive midfield area being a key part of the pitch to address come the end of the 2015/16 campaign.

With Arteta currently at 33 and Flamini at 31, neither of which look prepared to play a full 90 minutes of football in a high intensity Premier League game. Jorginho could be a realistic addition, as he wouldn’t necessarily displace Coquelin in the first eleven – something Arsene Wenger seems reluctant to do.

Whether a signing comes in January or May, there is no doubt Arsenal fans will be welcoming a fresh face to the club, but would Jorginho be the right fit? Let us know by commenting below!
