‘Arsenal Offered £80m For World Class Striker This Summer’

Arsenal bid £80million for one of the best strikers in the world this summer, according to Italian agent Vincenzo Morabito.

According to this agent, Arsenal made an approach for Borussia Dortmund’s forward Aubameyang. It is well known that Arsenal were on the look out for a top striker this summer and after missing out on their main targets, the club were forced to settle for a ‘back-up’ option and that turned out to be Lucas Perez, who has had an OK start to life at Arsenal, although he is now injured.

Morabito said: “Sometime ago, I called Michael Zorc, Dortmund’s director of football, to talk about Aubameyang [on behalf of Napoli],” He said to Italian station Radio CRC. “But the ‘no’ was absolutely categorical.

“I know that this summer, Arsenal offered €90m (£80m) for Aubameyang, but Borussia didn’t want to hear anything about it.”

Now I have no idea about the reputability of Italian agent Vincenzo Morabito, but there is a high chance that he is not held in high regard, as most agents like to spread lies. Why would this lie benefit him though? I’m not sure. He says he works for Napoli and they attempted to sign the player as a replacement for Higuain, so maybe there is some substance to it.

The player has said that he will only leave Dortmund should an offer arrive from Real Madrid. Still, it is good to see Arsenal showing ambition in the transfer market if this one is true.

Aubameyang is no doubt one of the best strikers in the world and with so little top class talent in that position, it is good to see Arsenal pursuing the players that may become available at some stage. It’s good to see at least that Arsene wants to sign a world class striker and hopefully that continues.
