Arsenal mull over £6.8million Gervinho bid

Arsenal are mulling over a bid of £6.8million for Gervinho from Roma – according to reports. The Gunners paid £8million for Gervinho back in 2011 and with just 11 goals in 63 games the club are unlikely to re-coup such an amount.

The delay in accepting or rejecting the bid may depend on incomings or the club could be waiting for other interested parties to put bids in, with Ligue 1 duo Lyon and Marseille linked with the Ivorian. There has been some talk that Arsenal are discussing a swap deal with Lyon between Gervinho and Gourcuff, but this is yet to be confirmed by any reputable source. Arsenal could be holding out for more money, with the club in no position to be forced to sell, especially with all the other squad departures this off-season.

Widespread reports in Italy suggest Roma are closing in on a deal and that the Gunners will sell if a suitable offer arrives. Fresh Arsenal reported last month that Gervinho had been put available for transfer, but Arsenal were not trying to actively shift the player.

Fresh Arsenal report from June 9 reads: “Gervinho is a player that Wenger isn’t actively looking to sell, but if an offer comes in at equal or above the £8million he paid for the Ivorian, the Frenchman is unlikely to turn it down. Bendtner is a player who will definitely leave – a fee of around £3million would likely seal a deal. Johan Djourou is the third player, he looks all set for another loan move, with the player keen to stay in Germany.” Read more here:
