Reports in Italy suggest Arsenal and West Ham have made enquiries for Destro, with Roma keen to offload the striker. Destro spent the second half of the season at AC Milan on loan but only netted 3 times.

Destro is not world class, but he would most likely be very cheap and could be willing to play second fiddle to Olivier Giroud. That makes him an ‘easy’ addition for The Gunners.

The point I would raise is we should be targeting players to improve the first team eleven and increase competition. Destro, whilst cheap and talented – is not the solution in my opinion.

We have players like Danny Welbeck and Theo Walcott who can cover for Giroud, but the thing we need, if we need another striker at all – is a world class striker. At the very least I would go for someone like Jackson Martinez, whose £24million release clause makes him attractive for the amount of goals he’s been scoring.

We shouldn’t sign a striker for the sake of it, and I’m sure Arsene Wenger is thinking the same thing. We don’t want to be struggling to sell on Destro in a few years like we are now with Lukas Podolski, Joel Campbell and Yaya Sanogo. Let’s just sign the best, the calibre of Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez and Petr Cech please.
