Arsenal ‘make contact with agents’ to sign £40m midfielder, player keen to join Gunners

Arsenal’s season is over and now the attention is turning to transfers both in and out of the club. There are updates emerging every day and it seems the Gunners are keen to move fast to secure some of their top targets.

We brought you the news from Sky Sports last week that Arsenal were eyeing a move for Norwich City midfielder Emiliano Buendia as an alternative to signing Martin Odegaard.

Now, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has suggested that Arsenal have made their move to secure the Argentinean. He says that Buendia is one of the options that Arsenal are ‘seriously’ considering’. He also notes that if an offer were to arrive, then the player would accept the move.

Buendia is a creative midfielder with the ability to play both wide and centrally. It’s possible that he could be earmarked as a replacement for Willian, who is likely to leave the club this summer and is even keen on returning to Chelsea, according to reports

The Argentinean has been on Arsenal’s radar since his impressive campaign for Norwich in the Premier League last season. Despite Norwich being relegated, Buendia was one of the most creative players in the league last season. In the Championship he has taken his form to new heights, scoring 15 goals and assisting 16 in 39 games.

Norwich will hope that this form attracts some serious offers for their prize asset. The club have conceded that they will sell for the right price.

Arsenal may have to pay up to £40million to secure the signing of Buendia, with plenty of interest from other Premier League clubs. Aged 24 and with the creative numbers he has been posting, it appears a fair fee. Arsenal will take confidence from how the likes of Ollie Watkins took their Championship form into the Premier League.
