Arsenal To Make 3 More Signings This Week

With Alexis Sanchez, Mathieu Debuchy and now David Ospina all tied up, many would expect Arsene Wenger to rest on his laurels. He is doing the exact opposite. The manager still wants to make between two and four more signings, depending on departures. Three of these could be done as early as this week, with the Gunners looking to have a strong squad to start the season with. Serge Gnabry and Carl Jenkinson could leave on loan, whilst Thomas Vermaelen, Nacho Monreal, Santi Cazorla, Joel Campbell and Lukas Podolski have all been linked with transfers away from the club in search for first team football.

1. Calum Chambers

It seems Calum Chambers will complete his move to Arsenal on Monday. The Southampton defender will join for an initial fee of around £12million, with bonuses that could see the deal rise to a potential £16million.

Debuchy will now compete with Chambers for the first choice right-back position at the Emirates, with Chambers seen as the Gunners long-term right-back at just 19. Chambers is rare in that he is a talented English right-back for one, and also the fact that he can cover at centre back.

The Southampton chairman, Koeman told BBC yesterday: “These are all rumours,” stated Koeman. “Calum didn’t train yesterday and that is why he didn’t play [against Bournemouth]. The transfer window is running and running and we have to see how it goes. We are Southampton, we are not Man City, but we are rebuilding the team a little now. We will be okay.”
