Arsenal Listening To Napoli Offers As Goalkeeping Shuffle Begins

Whether it’s Wenger In or Wenger Out, Arsenal will conduct a major reshuffle of the club this summer, with several key names leaving the Emirates.

As well as crucial members of the board stepping down like chief transfer negotiator, Dick Law, big changes are being planned throughout the squad too.

It seems there’s no better place to start than in between the sticks, with three of the Gunners goalkeeping futures on the chopping block.

David Ospina and Petr Cech have been fighting it out to become Arsenal’s number one this season, but Arsenal chiefs aren’t ready to wave goodbye to either just yet.

Instead, they will begin to listen to offers for academy graduate, Wojciech Szczesny, who’s currently on loan at Roma enjoying a second successive season away.

The Pole has become a key name in the Serie A having made 14 clean sheets during his 32 appearances, constantly reminding Wenger what he can do.

However, the lack of faith the Gunners boss has shown towards the 26-year-old has ruled out the chance of him returning and now Europe’s top clubs are after the safe handed shot-stopper.

Napoli are the latest club to come sniffing for Szczesny, with the reliable Gianluca Di Marzio already stating the Italian side have launched a €15million bid.

It seems Napoli are after an immediate replacement for the ageing Pepe Reina, who will turn 35 next year and is likely to finish his career elsewhere.

According to the report launched by Di Marzio, Arsenal are holding out for a larger sum because they know how attractive a player like Szczesny is to other clubs.

The Gunners will search for something in the region of €20-25million for the goalkeeper, money that will be reinvested into finding Cech’s long term replacement.
