Arsenal in talks with Juventus forward

Arsenal are in talks with Juventus over a January loan deal for striker Fernando Llorente, who has lost his place in the Spain squad.

With the World Cup coming up in the summer, it’s essential for Llorente to get back into the squad, and with first team chances hard to come by in Turin, Arsenal are looking to capitalise on the situation, according to the Daily Mail.

The Mail reports that Arsenal are already in talks over a January move for Llorente, who would provide competition for Olivier Giroud up front. The strikers are quite similar in terms of styles, but signing Llorente on a six-month loan deal would come at little risk, and allow Arsenal to pursue bigger targets at the end of the season.

Llorente showed stunning form for Bilbao in La Liga, but after he signed a pre-contract with Juventus, was frozen out from the side, and left to sit on the bench. Since he completed the move to Italy he has continued to be overshadowed by new signing Carlos Tevez – he might just have wished he stayed put in Spain.
