Arsenal are in desperate need for reinforcements and in particular, they need goals and creativity from midfield. January will see the transfer window open again, but historically it is a tough window to bring new players in for. However, there is an opportunity for one of their targets to move for just £22.5million, due to a release clause.
Much sought after Salzburg midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai has a €25million (£22.5million) release clause which can be activated this January. Arsenal are said to be one of many interested clubs in the player, so the signing will not be easy, but if they can convince him to come to Arsenal, it’s a signing that financially, looks a great option, given he is just 20 years old.
According to The Atheltic, Szoboszlai is being considered by Arsenal, but the likes of Real Madrid, AC Milan, Leipzig and Atletico Madrid are also interested. That’s a tough list of teams to be battling with.
He has caught the eye with appearances in the Champions League this season and some long-range goals for his country. He is a very creative player, averaging 2.4 key passes per 90 in the CL this season. He also stands at over 6ft tall and has goalscoring abilities that he has showcased on the big stages for his country and with 2 goals in the Champions League.
It’s hard to see a downside to this signing at that price, its just all about whether the club can convince the player that this is the right next step for him. Something Arsenal may be able to offer that other clubs can’t, is the ability to be first choice.
