So yesterday we asked you to vote for the strongest Arsenal team. We got some very interesting results and some areas turned out to be more clear cut (according to the fans) than I expected. Here’s the results, as voted by over 2,000 Arsenal fans. All the percentages can be found for each player, it’s quite interesting. We went for the most popular 4-2-3-1 formation.
Goalkeeper: Woijech  Szczesny (80.4%), David Ospina (19.6%).
Right Back: Mathieu Debuchy (92.9%), Calum Chambers (5.6%), Hector Bellerin (1.5%)
Centre Back: Laurent Koscielny (47.9%), Per Mertesacker (40.9%), Calum Chambers (11.2%)
Left Back: Kieran Gibbs (97.9%), Nacho Monreal (2.1%)
Centre Midfield: Aaron Ramsey (42.1%), Jack Wilshere (29.6%), Mikel Arteta (11.6%), Mathieu Flamini (5.8%), Santi Cazorla (5.5%), Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (4.6%), Tomas Rosicky (0.9%)
Attacking Midfield: Mesut Ozil (77.9%), Santi Cazorla (11.6%), Aaron Ramsey (3.7%), Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (3.2%), Jack Wilshere (2.6%), Tomas Rosicky (1.1%)
Wingers: Alexis Sanchez (46.4%), Theo Walcott (40.7%), Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (7.2%), Santi Cazorla (3.9%), Mesut Ozil (1.5%), Danny Welbeck (0.3%). No votes for Lukas Podolski or Tomas Rosicky
Striker: Danny Welbeck (80.7%), Olivier Giroud (15.5%), Alexis Sanchez (2.7%), Joel Campbell (0.5%), Theo Walcott (0.5%). No votes for Lukas Podolski.
So is this the strongest XI? You voted for it so we guess so. Admittedly we didn’t put Diaby in the voting, but we thought it would be quite embarassing if he came out in our strongest XI and he’s played 5 times in 3 years..
What result surprise you? Personally I’m surprised by Welbeck’s domination and Walcott’s lack of votes as a striker, less than a percent. Cazorla also seems to be out of favour when it comes to Arsenal’s strongest eleven. Comment below.
