We’re getting pretty used to seeing his name linked with the Gunners now, but this time it looks as if Julian Draxler is up for grabs at the end of the season.
There were moments in the summer where the Wolfsburg forward was on the edge of a move away from the Bundesliga after a serious fallout his clubs officials.
Draxler and his agent became tangled in a battle to get out but Wolfsburg put their foot down on the German leaving and instead made him see out his contract.
Rumours surfaced that Arsenal were willing to pay up to £55million for the 23-year-old who had been tipped as the next big thing a few seasons ago.
Since then he’s found it tough to find form in a side that have failed to add any real quality in the last few years as a result of their sponsor Volkswagen experiencing serious setbacks.
And now Draxler’s agent has all but confirmed the midfielder turned striker will be available to buy in the summer, after taking part in an interview with Italian media, quoted by The Week.
He will definitely leave Wolfsburg at the end of the season.
With Olivier Giroud moving into his 30’s and Lucas Perez not far behind, there’s definitely reason to bring in a younger pair of legs to fight for a place up top.
It’s no secret that Wenger has been an admirer of the young German talent, and the likes of Shkodran Mustafi and Mesut Ozil could help persuade him to join.
Personally I’d love to see it happen, we’re still waiting to see the best from Draxler and that’s a good thing, at a young age we can never expect too much.
