Arsenal Agree Terms With Serge Aurier

According to reports from France, Arsenal have agreed a provisional 5 year contract with Serge Aurier and if the Gunners can agree a fee with the French club then Aurier would join the North London side.

It seems Arsenal are still squabbling over a €2million difference in valuation, with Toulouse demanding a reasonable €10million, and the Gunners offering €8million. With Aurier’s impressive performance in the World Cup, the Gunners need to move fast in order to avoid other clubs from trying to sign him. There are reports that Swansea and QPR are also heavily interested in the versatile, quick defender.

The reliable GFN France claimed this morning that: ‘Get French Football News has been informed that Arsenal remain in fee negotiations with Toulouse, with the London club currently in a position whereby they are trying to sign the player for €8m, but Téfécé want €10m. The player has already agreed a 5 year provisional contract with the North London club.’

Aurier can play at centre back, but is predominantly a right-back and would replace Bacary Sagna who left for Manchester City this month. Aurier is just 21 but seems a natural heir to Sagna at the Emirates, and has a good attacking threat which is an area where many see the player superior to Sagna.

I expect it is only a matter of time before this one is completed and Arsenal may wait until the PUMA sponsorship deal is announced before publicising any signings.
