Arsenal have been hit with the shocking news that Alexis Sanchez, Theo Walcott and Danny Welbeck could all miss the Manchester United game through injury.
With Walcott already lacking match practice, the news that he may not be fit indicates there is a very minimal chance of him starting.
On Welbeck, Arsene Wenger said:Â “His fitness will depend on the medical assessment this morning”
Wenger also added that star man Alexis Sanchez would have to be assessed today as he only got back from international duty yesterday afternoon.
Yesterday we revealed that Olivier Giroud and Mikel Arteta had been passed fit in a huge boost for the club, but this news makes it less huge.
So how could Arsenal line-up if Walcott, Welbeck and Alexis were all ruled out? Giroud would be extremely unlikely to start so.. here’s a possible idea:
——————— Szczesny
Chambers – Mertesacker – Monreal – Gibbs
———————- Flamini
Chamberlain – Ramsey – Wilshere – Cazorla
———————– Sanogo
If that was our XI, I wouldn’t be too confident..
With Sanogo as a striker, our chances of picking up anything from the game almost disappear. Santi Cazorla looks like he will now start, and he must step up if that is the case. The Spaniard is always fit but the way he is performing it’s hard to tell he’s actually on the pitch. The Arsenal eleven above will not scare van Gaal. If it included Welbeck and Sanchez, the Gunners would be a lot more threatening in attack.
