According to several reports over the last few days, the deal to take Sami Khedira is still on as Arsene Wenger looks to add significant quality to the heart of his midfield. It is thought a move had broken down due to wage demands, but now a deal is still on the cards as the player has compromised. A fee of £20million is thought to have already been agreed with Madrid.

Earlier this month Fresh Arsenal brought you the news that Arsenal were in advanced talks for Sami Khedira.
Arsene Wenger is likely to offer Khedira around £110,000 per-week, making him amongst the highest earners at the club.  Khedira would join fellow World Cup winners Lukas Podolski, Per Mertesacker and Mesut Ozil at the Emirates, which is becoming a growing attraction for German talent.
Sami Khedira will add top-level experience to the midfield and bring a whole new level of power that the team has been lacking since Vieira. Watching him destroy the Brazilian midfield in that 7-1 mauling proved just how valuable he would be in big games for the Gunners.
Khedira has just one year remaining on his current contract, and reports in Spain suggested that this week he turned down an extension offer from the Champions League holders. It is thought that Arsenal and Madrid have already reached an agreement of £20million (€25million), but personal terms are yet to be finalised.
If signed, Khedira is unlikely to be available until August 11, when all the other Germans return from their well deserved break. This means all the Germans would miss the Community Shield and the first Premier League game (due to fitness issues). Arsenal will of course have a European qualifier to juggle amongst their Premier League fixtures in August.
