Arsene Wenger is trying to convince Iker Casillas to join Arsenal according to Spanish media outlet AS. The story is one of their main ones on the site, and it is not the first time Casillas has been linked to the Gunners.
The report says that Casillas is not happy with the goalkeeper rotation system currently at Madrid and considered a move in the January transfer window. The report also suggests that if he did move, he would only want to move to the Premier League. The question is, do Arsenal really want to drop Szczesny after a fantastic season? Woijech would learn a lot from Casillas but it could also stunt his growth. The is no question that the Madrid keeper would only make the switch to London if a first team spot was assured.
Also if Casillas was to join, he wouldn’t come cheap. Do Arsenal need to spend a large amount of money in this area? Especially when they reportedly turned down the chance to re-sign Cesc Fabregas. A cheaper option who is willing to be second choice would be both more realistic and a more sensible option for the Gunners.
Arsenal are continuing their hunt for a new goalkeeper after Lukas Fabianski joined Swansea, and yesterday the Mail said the Gunners had had a £6million bid for David Marshall turned down.
