Arsenal are finally set to complete the signing of highly-rated Blackburn Rovers striker Igor Tyjon after reaching an agreement with the Championship club.
According to HazzaXtra, the two clubs have now agreed a package worth up to £3.2million for the 18-year-old. Arsenal will reportedly pay £1.2million upfront, with a further £2million potentially due through performance-related add-ons.
Blackburn have also secured a 20 per cent sell-on clause, giving Rovers the opportunity to benefit substantially if Tyjon fulfils his potential and Arsenal eventually decide to sell him.
The striker is expected to undergo his Arsenal medical on Friday afternoon, with an appointment already scheduled as the transfer moves towards completion. Providing there are no late complications, Tyjon should then be able to formally complete his move to north London.
The agreement brings an end to a lengthy pursuit which began when Arsenal made their first significant approach for the teenager during the summer of 2025. Blackburn rejected an offer believed to be worth approximately £2million at the time, with the proposed package also containing sell-on provisions.
Arsenal revived their interest in January 2026 and submitted another proposal shortly before the transfer deadline, but that bid—reportedly worth around £1million—was also turned down.
Negotiations resumed this summer, although the clubs initially remained apart over the guaranteed portion of the fee. Blackburn wanted greater certainty over the money they would receive, while Arsenal’s proposal placed considerable weight on future add-ons.
There was also the possibility of Tyjon’s future being determined through the Professional Football Negotiating and Consultative Committee. That route could potentially have allowed the youngster to move overseas for compensation of approximately £300,000, weakening Blackburn’s negotiating position.
A direct agreement ultimately gives Rovers greater control over the financial outcome while allowing Arsenal to secure one of their long-term academy targets.
Tyjon has already represented England at youth level and made his senior Blackburn debut as a 16-year-old in September 2024. Although he is unlikely to be viewed as an immediate first-team signing, Arsenal clearly believe he possesses the physical and technical qualities required to develop into a senior-level centre-forward.
The Gunners have tracked Tyjon for around 18 months and continued pursuing him despite seeing multiple offers rejected. That persistence is now set to pay off, with the striker poised to continue his development inside Arsenal’s academy.
