Report: Carlos Cuesta trying to sign Arsenal player for Parma

There’s been lots of talk about incomings in recent weeks, but if Arsenal are to do all they desire in terms of signings, they will need to make some key sales.

One of those is Fabio Vieira and it seems there could be some movement on a potential deal for him.

Parma have expressed interest in signing Arsenal midfielder Fabio Vieira, according to transfer insider Nico Schira. The Italian club, now managed by former Arsenal assistant coach Carlos Cuesta, have reportedly made initial enquiries about the 25-year-old’s availability this summer.

Vieira spent last season on loan at Porto but endured a mixed spell, with inconsistent form, although he improved in the second half in the season. Now back in North London, he is not thought to be part of Mikel Arteta’s plans for the upcoming campaign, and Arsenal are open to a permanent transfer.

Cuesta, who played a key role in Arsenal’s coaching setup before making the step into management with Parma, is believed to be keen on reuniting with Vieira — a technically gifted midfielder who showed flashes of quality in his early Arsenal appearances but struggled for consistency.

Arsenal are expected to demand around £20million for Vieira, who joined from Porto in 2022. A sale would not only clear space in the squad but also contribute towards funding new signings. One of the Gunners’ primary targets is Crystal Palace playmaker Eberechi Eze, who is viewed internally as a player capable of adding creativity and dynamism to the midfield.

As the Gunners reshape their squad ahead of the 2025/26 season, Vieira looks set to be one of several fringe players moved on. With interest building and a familiar face at Parma ready to offer him a fresh start, a move to Italy could be the right step for both club and player.

The likes of Reiss Nelson and Leandro Trossard could be more attacking sales as the club looks to remodel their attack.
