Reports: Forward ‘obsessed with Arsenal’ has agreed 5-year contract, deal moving closer

Arsenal look like they are moving closer to their first signing of the January transfer window.

He’s valued at 40million euros by transfermarkt, but the total package to get him to Arsenal will likely be around double that figure. Shakhtar had already rejected two bids from the Gunners, but BBC reported earlier this week that talks were continuing between the clubs.

Now, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has said: “Mudryk is obsessed with Arsenal. He wants to join Arsenal. There is a respect toward the player from Shakhtar that’s why I think the Ukrainian club might accept less than €100m.”

The 100million euro price tag has always felt very steep for Mudryk. He’s a player who has just turned 22, but only recently broken through at Shakhtar and for his national team.

We know very little about Mudryk’s potential to play at the very top and in the Premier League, but Arsenal’s desire for this player is clear given how much money they appear to be willing to dedicate to a deal.

Journalist Ekrum Konur reported yesterday that Arsenal had agreed a five-year contract with the player already. Considering his ‘obsession’ with the club, I doubt a contract was too difficult to agree – this one has always been about the fee.

Predominantly a left-winger, Mudryk is a tricky winger with sensational speed. It is also thought he could play as a second striker and from the right.
