Arsenal are set to be busy this summer in terms of moving players in and out of the club, but another focus for Edu Gaspar and his team, will be to secure the long term futures of some of the clubs best young players.
Arsenal are optimistic that they will convince Emile Smith Rowe to commit his long-term future to the club soon, according to the reliable Fabrizio Romano.
Smith Rowe currently has a contract that is due to expire in two years time and his recent form will have been attracting interest across the continent.
Smith Rowe’s abilities were already held in high regard by many, and this was evidenced by RB Leipzig’s decision to loan him in 2019.
Now Arsenal want to tie him up to a new five year contract, this would help the Gunners plan around the youngster as they bid to rebuild a squad ready for Champions League football once again,
It’s been a breakout year for the 20-year-old, who burst onto the scene with an impressive performance against Chelsea on Boxing Day, 2020. Since then he’s gone from strength to strength and in the last week has begun to add goals to his game.
Smith Rowe has played predominantly as a number 10 for the club, but since Martin Odegaard arrived, we’ve also seen him play in the wide creative role from the left. He’s shown great ability in both positions and like his former Hale End academy teammate, Bukayo Saka, this versatility provides great flexibility for the manager.
