Arsenal are going to need to sell some of their squad this summer in order to finance moves for players who fit Arteta’s philosophy.
The transfer window is now open, but who could go? Today David Ornstein has been talking for The Athletic about Arsenal’s transfer plans and he’s revealed some of the names we can expect to see linked to other clubs in the coming weeks.

Firstly in defence, the Gunners are looking for a reshuffle. Both Rob Holding and Sokratis have clearly been out of favour and with William Saliba arriving and a potential new signing to come, the decks need to be cleared in that area of the squad. Mustafi, now injured until October, will be a lot harder to sell, but Arteta clear views the German as the best of the bad bunch, given his playing time pre-injury.

Another big problem area for the Gunners is midfield. In this area of the squad there are too many players who do the same thing, or nothing! Matteo Guendouzi has fallen out with the manager and out of favour and so we can expect him to be moved on, whilst Lucas Torreira is clearly not the puzzle piece for Mikel. With moves mooted for the likes of Thomas Partey, the club could raise funds by selling this duo.
Players Arsenal could sell excluding this six may include one or both of Aubameyang and Lacazette, as their contracts begin to wind down. Kolasinac is also not the perfect player and I imagine the club would not stand in his way if he wanted to leave, the same applies of Mesut Ozil.
It is also clear that the club would like to sign a new wide player and Ornstein added that it is unlikely any of the current crop of winger leave, but that if an offer did arrive, they could listen to offers for Reiss Nelson.
It certainly looks like it will be a summer of much change at The Emirates.
