Arsenal are set to sign three new players as Unai Emery looks to make his mark on the squad. The Gunners will also be letting go of a lot of players in the coming months. In this article we look at the three deals on the verge of completion.
1 – Stephan Lichtsteiner
A deal is not yet completed, but the Gunners are keen to sign up Lichtsteiner ahead of the World Cup which starts in less than two weeks. A deal is close to being agreed, with an initial one-year contract lined up for the 34-year-old, with a possible second year if the club choose to extend the deal.
Today the Swiss international told reporters: “Nothing is finished yet.
“I cannot comment on the negotiations. As long as nothing is completed, that is always interesting in football. I think we all know that.”
Lichtsteiner has won a lot of silverware with Juventus in his 7 years at the club, and he has made a massive 98 caps for Switzerland. As well as playing as a right back, he can play in a more advanced role, suiting the right wing-back role in a back five very naturally.
