Latest News Suggests Monaco Open To £60m Lemar to Arsenal Deal

Despite Wenger suggesting that a deal for Thomas Lemar was completely dead, a journalist has some revealing information that goes against that claim.

Duncan Castles, a journalist for the Sunday Times said: “I had a chat with a Monaco contact last night, asking him where things stood. He said the Lemar deal is very much still on the table as far as they’re concerned.

“It is a possibility he leaves, if the transfer fee they are looking for of £60m is met.”

If this is true, perhaps Wenger declared the deal as dead in order to see Monaco shift their asking price to something closer to the £50million Arsenal appear to value him at. But Wenger needs to be careful if this is the case as the likes of Manchester United remain heavily interested in Lemar.

Some will say that Arsenal need to bite the bullet and pay that figure, especially with the likes of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain seemingly on the way out of the club. With only outgoings being talked about, the Gunners could do with some positive news in terms of incomings and the signing of Lemar would certainly help to lift spirits amongst the fanbase.

Can Arsenal surprise a few and win silverware this season? Make the most of the latest free bets here and put your money where your mouth is. If Lemar joins and Alexis sticks around, the Gunners have an attacking force to rival any in Europe, but there are still concerns around the clubs defence, and with Shkodran Mustafi seemingly on his way, the club need to ensure there is sufficient defensively quality in place for the season. Virgil van Dijk anyone? Yes please.
