With a North London derby on the horizon and an FA Cup final to look forward to, each and every Arsenal player should be fighting for their spot.
Arsene Wenger has made it clear that a drop in form will be punished, having already shoved the likes of Alex Iwobi and Theo Walcott to the bench.
And following back-to-back victories with the use of a new system, Wenger has opposition managers scratching their heads.
It’ll be no different on Wednesday night as the Gunners welcome a Leicester City side that are having a dip in form, but still have a lot to prove.
Arsenal were the only team that managed to beat the Premier League champions on both occasions last season, so The Foxes are after a bit of revenge.
Neither side have a big injury list to deal with so we’re hoping to see two sides that have their best starting XI out on show, but here’s a quick snippet of how I think the home side should line up.
Goalkeeper: Petr Cech
With Ospina still injured, now is the time Cech has to prove himself to the fans that he deserves to stay on at the club as our number one next season. A number of mistakes, including a hiccup on Sunday, have cast doubt over the 34-year-old’s ability and a big performance is needed.
Defence: Gabriel Paulista, Laurent Koscielny, Rob Holding
If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. The fact is these three have been playing brilliantly together and the new system has been based solely on them working together. Mustafi for Gabriel would be the only change I’d make but the German is currently out injured. This back three could be used against Spurs on the weekend so the more games they get under their belt the better.
Wing-Backs: Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Hector Bellerin
Give Monreal a rest and let’s see what Bellerin can do on the right hand side of midfield, because I really like this system with The Ox. Having received yet another MOTM award last weekend, the Englishman has finally found his role in this Arsenal side and at the moment, he’s just as important as Alexis. Bellerin hasn’t had a real chance to fit into this new formation and he’s definitely got the legs to play 90 minutes going back and forth.
Central Midfield: Granit Xhaka and Mohamed Elneny
I’ve really enjoyed seeing the Ramsey/Xhaka combination but I think a game like this is the perfect chance to see how Elneny adapts. We all know Leicester love to press high up the pitch and by leaving these two in the hole it allows the forwards to get on and do their job up top. Xhaka was disciplined against City on Sunday and rarely ran out of position. He’s already proven alongside Elneny and these two could form a solid defensive partnership in the middle of the park.
Attacking Midfield: Mesut Ozil and Aaron Ramsey
These two are often called out but having picked up another run in the team, Aaron Ramsey can take a little bit of the pressure away from Ozil in providing. With the defensive third covered, it’ll mean these two can get the job done themselves. Ramsey is great in between the lines around the penalty area, whilst Ozil is as influential as they come when handed the ball on the flanks.
Centre Forward: Alexis Sanchez
I don’t care that he prefers to play on the left because he see’s more of the ball, his best position has been up top where he’s picked up the majority of his goals. Giroud may as well have been sat at home on Sunday, whilst Welbeck hasn’t done enough to prove himself of a starting position.
