The Gunners look set to go another season without a Premier League title in their hands as they sit nine point off the pace of leaders Chelsea going into the festive period.

And according to The Telegraph, Arsene Wenger is lining up Marco Reus as potential signing that could be made to soften the blow of losing either one of our superstars.

Whilst it may not be a like for like switch, Reus has been linked with the North London side on several occasions through the years and a move to England would be huge.

As well as him being offered a significant pay rise to what he’s currently getting at Borussia Dortmund, it could be a chance to feature as a standout man in Europe’s most exciting division.

Reus has stayed loyal to his beloved Dortmund despite Lewandoski and Klopp departures, but one big deal could put this transfer into action.

If Real Madrid are to come in for Pierre Emerick Aubameyang then Reus would have to consider his options considering Dortmund are already falling off the pace in the Bundesliga.

Arsenal are desperate for their star duo to sign on the dotted line, and its believe this is just for precautionary measures, but they won’t want to go into the final year of their contract with no extension agreed.

Ozil and Alexis still have 18 months on their contract to run and Wenger has ensured they will see out that deal until the final day no matter what.

Arsenal have reportedly tabled offers of £180,000 a week for the pair, but it’s believed their agents are pushing for upwards of £200,000 to match some of the league’s highest earners.

In my opinion, it comes down to numbers on the pitch rather than on the pay cheque, and if Arsenal don’t secure a successful season with these two then it could be time to wave goodbye.

Ozil has always seemed to be more loyal to the Gunners having recently bought a new house in London and stating that this was the only club he considered leaving Real Madrid for.

However, the 2-1 loss to Manchester City at the weekend was yet another indication that when things aren’t going well, the pair can get upset and annoyed at the clubs ethos.
