With 12 goals in their last three games, it’s difficult to see how and where Wenger would make the changes to a side that can’t stop performing.
But amongst those results is a statistic that’s opened our eyes, with the Gunners substitutes scoring six goals in the Premier League this season, more than any other side.
There’s no doubt that Wenger now has a squad to enter 2017 at the top of the table, but to do that he must ensure rotation is key (providing there aren’t too many more injuries)
Arsenal’s Absentees: Mertesacker, Cazorla, Ramsey, Mustafi, Welbeck, Debuchy, Akpom
Predicted Line-Up
Goalkeeper: Petr Cech
There’s never really too much to say. Look at the overall record for conceding goals and a significant number of the Premier League goals have come from penalties or free-kicks.
Right-Back: Hector Bellerin
Back in the squad and on Saturday night he was back with a bang. Grabbed an assist and with the injury to Debuchy and lack of confidence issues Jenkinson is facing, Bellerin will be the obvious choice for the majority of the season.
Centre-Backs: Gabriel and Laurent Koscielny
With Mustafi’s injury, Wenger will be faced with a decision to use Holding or Gabriel over the next few weeks, but considering his recent form the Brazilian gets the nod. Gabriel has actually looked like a regular since covering at right-back, so hopefully his ability to pass well and react fast won’t slow down Arsenal’s build-up play.
Left-Back: Kieran Gibbs
I think our left backs are on an equal par this season, so I’d love to see Wenger making the most of it by keeping fresh legs out on the pitch. Gibbs has performed well when thrown in to the Champions League and League Cup so I’ve got no concerns over switching things up.
Centre-Defensive Midfield: Francis Coquelin and Granit Xhaka
If it isn’t broke, don’t fix it, right? These two were brilliant at the weekend and I’m so glad we’ve finally found a solution to missing Cazorla in the middle. Xhaka needs to sort his discipline out a little bit but if these two can pull off another refreshing performance then that’s great stuff to take to a six-pointer with Manchester City.
Right-Midfield: Theo Walcott
After bagging his coffee machine following his 10th goal of the season, Walcott is really flying this season and his partnership with Bellerin makes are right hand side lethal once more. The reason for his success? Well, he’s playing with freedom, being allowed to get further up the pitch without having to worry about defensive duties as much.
Centre-Attacking Midfield: Mesut OzilÂ
Ozil scored his eighth and ninth goal of the campaign last week so he’ll be eager to stretch that run to a third consecutive Premier League game. He’s adding goals to his game and defenders are once again struggling to work out how to defend against him.
Left-Midfield: Alex Iwobi
With two goals in his last two games, Iwobi is flying with confidence and going back to the place his bagged his first senior strike will only make him play with more freedom. The Ox has done nothing wrong, but with rotation key to this week it would be great to see Iwobi start his first league game in a while.
Centre Forward: Alexis Sanchez
