Whilst Arsenal remain unbeaten in 18 games, something just isn’t quite right with their midfield following the injury sustained by Santi Cazorla.
It appears the team have lost their spark in central midfield and after three consecutive draws questions are being asked of Wenger on whether he strengthened in the right areas.
One man who could solve Wenger’s long-term issues in that attacking zone is already playing in the Premier League and it looks as if the boss wants to keep hold of him for a long time.
Talking in his pre-match presser on Friday, Wenger confirmed that Jack Wilshere will definitely be offered a new contract at Arsenal despite being sent out on loan this season.
Yes of course (we will offer him a new deal). At the moment, I leave him to deal with his manager. Every week I ask ‘how did he play?’.
I read the reports and when I can see the highlights or watch him on television, I will watch him. I’m happy that he hasn’t had any injuries since he left us.
The 24-year-old joined Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth in the last few days of the summer transfer window and hasn’t looked back since becoming a key cog in the Cherries midfield.
His ability to play consecutive games without being overloaded by European football has given the midfielder time to adapt and prove he still has the ability we all saw in him from a young age.
Not only has he created some excellent chances for Howe’s side, Wilshere was recalled into the England team during the last international break, a huge boost for his confidence.
Now it looks as if the English international will meet with Wenger in the New Year to discuss the factors of a new contract, which is expected to be long-term.
Wilshere has never hidden away from his love for both the club and the manager, and it’s believed he will continue his years with the Gunners until the end of his career.

With Cazorla nearing the end of his peak years, it could pose a perfect chance for Wilshere to drop straight in to a partnership where Granit Xhaka and Francis Coquelin are both settled in the heart of midfield.
Whichever way you look at it, holding on to a talent like Wilshere is massive news for the club and will hopefully put to bed any rumours of him quitting Arsenal at the end of the season.
