Arsene Wenger Eyes Almiron Signing Before Deadline

Arsene Wenger has been busy over the last week in concluding deals for Shkodran Mustafi and Lucas Perez from Valencia and Deportivo La Coruna respectively, however the Frenchman could well be set for more deals before the close of the transfer window on Wednesday night. The Gunners are now reportedly lining up a deal for midfielder Miguel Almiron, who currently applies his trade at Lanus in Argentina. The 22-year-old made his debut for Paraguay during this summer’s Copa America, and his performances have led to major interest from around Europe. The news that Jack Wilshere could well be heading out on loan has reportedly kicked such a deal into life, with both parties keen on concluding a deal before the transfer deadline.

The Gunners overcame Watford at the weekend, and with the international break now giving Wenger time to evaluate his squad, Arsenal supporters will be hoping to kick start their season with another victory in their next match with Southampton. In what is a busy weekend’s betting, Wenger’s men are 4/7 on with bookmakers Betway to claim all three points at the Emirates. Both Mustafi and Perez could well be in line to make their debuts in such a fixture, with Wenger likely to soon have a fully healthy squad to work with.

Meanwhile, following his exploits at the Rio Olympics with Germany, Serge Gnabry is set to join Bayern Munich, before spending the upcoming season on-loan to Bundesliga side Werder Bremen. Gnabry signed a five-year deal with the Gunners back in 2013, and despite struggling for game time during his time with West Brom, has attracted interest from clubs throughout the German top flight. Despite the transfer not being complete as yet, Betway have suspended the betting on the youngster signing for the German giants.

With the announcements of Mustafi and Perez done, it remains to be seen just how active Arsenal will be in the remaining 9 hours of the window, with outgoings more likely than further incomings. However, Wenger is certainly not scared of leaving it to the last minute, with Mesut Ozil having been signed on deadline day back in 2013.
