With so much attention on who could be making their way to the Emirates Stadium this summer, we’ve almost lost track of who we could be waving goodbye to.
Arsene Wenger is under severe pressure to deliver in this transfer window and will need to try and clear out some of the deadwood in order to spend freely.
The Gunners have moved into the super-club status and with big players comes big wages, so balancing the books is just as important over the next few months if we want to see new faces.
Whilst we’re seeing a handful of academy stars heading out either on loan of permenant transfer, Wenger is yet to let go of any first team stars, so we’ve jumped the gun to pick out the three that are likely to be shown the exit door.
1 –Â Mathieu Debuchy
Possibly the most obvious of any Arsenal player to be heading away from the Gunners, Debuchy has become the forgotten man in defence.
Following a failed loan spell at Bordeaux where he featured just nine times for the French outfit, a new club and fresh start is top of his to-do list.
It’s been a season to forget for the 30-year-old, who made just two Premier League starts for Arsenal after Hector Bellerin was bumped up the pecking order.
Both Roma and Sunderland have been linked with the right-back so far, but life in English football looks to be Debuchy’s best bet of regaining some form.
Reports have also suggested he’d be keen to go back to the North East and help out his former club Newcastle get back into the top division under the talented Rafa Benitez.
When he first came to the club in 2014, Debuchy looked like a fitting replacement to succeed Bacary Sagna at right-back.
But following an average season in which a young Hector Bellerin was his only competition, Debuchy became too comfortable with life at Arsenal.
Having failed to capture any real fan appreciation, Debuchy soon became a forgotten man with Bellerin coming in to fill a gap during a spell of injury.
From the beginning of last season the Frenchman never really looked like getting a chance in the first team setup, and League Cup appearances confirmed his position at the club was under question.
January 2016 saw a turning point for the defender, and after Wenger rejected a loan approach from Manchester United, Debuchy found himself back in France.
A loan spell until the end of the season provided Debuchy with a chance to get back into the national squad picture, but his age began to show in Ligue 1 and it didn’t take long for him to once again be second best.
