Agent Confirms Arsenal Have Made An Approach For Top European Striker

The agent of Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi has confirmed that Arsenal are one of a few clubs that have expressed an interest in signing him this summer.

Despite being handed the captain’s armband, the 23-year-old is unhappy with his situation at the Serie A side and Premier League clubs are monitoring his situation.

It’s reported that Icardi is demanding an improved contract at Milan after feeling let down by broken promises through the season, with Roberto Mancini being an issue.

The former Manchester City boss has failed to bring in top-level talent and instead put his faith in Icardi delivering the goods by himself for the majority of the 2015/16 campaign.

It is believed Icardi’s ideal situation is to stay in Italy, but whilst contract negotiations continue to get resolved, his agent has spoken out about a possible move away from the San Siro.

Inter have to say the truth. They can’t say Icardi is not for sale and then talk to other clubs.

I’ve asked for a renewal because the club had promised a renewal.

There are many offers, but I do not negotiate with other clubs. I only talk about Mauro’s contract, that’s my role, not doing negotiations.

Athletico Madrid, Tottenham and Arsenal have made contact. Napoli and Roma are also interested now.

Arsenal have more than likely done this to throw their name into the hat just in case a deal falls through for another top class striker.

Icardi has bagged 52 goals in 102 appearances under Inter, and although that sounds great he’s not the marquee signing all of us Gunners fans are looking for.

His age is a concern with Arsenal needing experience to help fire them to Premier League glory, but sadly the market is limited and Wenger has already been left frustrated.

He has confirmed to BeIn Sports that signings are imminent due to being “short number-wise” and a move for a striker tops his list of priorities.

Getting the right man will take time, but if there’s anything in this story then it’s simply a threat from Icardi’s agent to get Inter Milan to sort a new contract sharply.
