The Gunners will begin their defence of the trophy in the opening weeks of January, with all third round ties being held between the 8th and 11th.

It’s welcome news for many Arsenal supporters, who are looking forward to a tie against a side currently sitting in the relegation zone and struggling to kick-start their campaign.

However, with the recent arrival of manager, Sam Allardyce, it does spark concerns that it won’t be an easy ride at the Emirates Stadium.

Big Sam is a massive lover of the FA Cup and will want to progress just as much as staying up in the Premier League, so Arsene Wenger has to be alert in choosing his side.

The boss is often tempted to switch a lot of the positions in this competition, and we can expect to see an appearance from the forgotten David Ospina.

Following Arsenal’s 3-1 victory against Sunderland on Saturday afternoon, things are certainly looking good on paper, but we all know anything can happen in the Cup.
