It’s been a position covered by some of Arsenal’s greatest players, and now questions have been raised as to who should begin the 2015/16 season at right-back.Â
The club looked to be in huge trouble when long-term full-back Bacary Sagna left the club for former Premier League champions, Manchester City.
However, Arsene Wenger pulled his wallet out ahead of the 2014/15 campaign and snapped up the services of both Mathieu Debuchy and Callum Chambers.
The duo came in at a joint cost of around £28million, having each proven their ability in the worlds most demanding competition, the Premier League.
At that stage there was never any doubt as to the quality of Arsenal’s situation down the right defensive side, but things soon took a turn for the worst.
Just two months in to his Gunners debut season, Debuchy suffered a serious injury which left him out of contention for a huge spell of the opening half of the campaign.
That provided a chance for Chambers to step up into his shoes, but more importantly we saw the introduction of Gunners youngster, Hector Bellerin.
And since then, the Spanish teen has made a massive impact with the Arsenal community becoming one of the surprise stars joining Francis Coquelin.
With the increase in regular football, Bellerin began to grow with confidence and talent, allowing him to become a regular face in the first team picture.
That means Arsenal now have three top picks down the right hand side, after Carl Jenkinson made the loan switch to West Ham for a successive season.
