Arsene Wenger has been heavily accused of directly lying to Wojciech Szczesny with regards to the transfer of Petr Cech.

Following the arrival of the Chelsea man, Polish goalkeeping legend, Jan Tomaszewski, has stated that the Gunners manager has betrayed Arsenal’s current number 1.

The 25-year-old recently put to bed any rumours of a departure, after he confirmed that he would be “here for good” following this seasons FA Cup final victory.

However, despite the reassuring message to the faithful Arsenal fans, Tomaszewski has insisted Szczesny’s comments were made public with the belief Wenger would not sign a new goalkeeper.

Whilst talking to Polish newspaper outlet, Przeglad Sportowy, the former Poland international felt angered at the way the Gunners boss had treated Szczesny following the signing of £11million Petr Cech;

In January I spoke to Adam Nawalka (Poland manager) and he said that Arsene Wenger had told him that if Szczesny worked hard in training he would play again soon.

It turned out that he didn’t tell the truth. I’m sure that when Szczesny said that he was going to stay at Arsenal, he didn’t know that Cech was going to come because Wenger didn’t tell him about his plans.

Since losing his starting spot on New Year’s day, the young shot-stopper has featured just five times for the Gunners, with all of those appearances coming in the FA Cup.

And things don’t get much better when looking at his playing time with his national side, as former Arsenal man Lukasz Fabianski is now the first choice between the sticks.

Reasons like this are why the future of Szczesny has once again been cast in the shadows, and Arsene Wenger must now make a decision on who he let’s go this summer.

David Ospina has been heavily linked with a £4million switch to Fenerbache, after he confirmed that his agent was dealing with officials from the Turkish club.

Tomaszewski now believes Szczesny needs to follow in the footsteps out of the Emirates this summer, as he fears the risk of being shut out of the Polish squad;

For me, Wojciech is still Poland’s number one, a world-class goalkeeper but after Cech’s transfer he has no chance to play at Arsenal and for Poland. It could be end of his career in the national team.

There has been talk of holding on to Ospina and letting Szczesny head out on loan to another Premier League club, but the Polish man needs top-level football and Wenger is reluctant to loan to a rival club.

The boss is expected to make a decision on his goalkeepers in the coming weeks after the transfer window officially opened today.
