Tomas Rosicky is set to leave the club this summer, according to The Mirror. It is believed he is unhappy with his lack of game time.
The Czech international had struggled for game time at Arsenal this season, but finally his patience was rewarded over the busy Christmas schedule. He became a regular and was playing as if he were in his early 20’s. Despite impressing during this period, Wenger has once again pushed Rosicky back down the pecking order upon injured players returning.
Wenger’s reluctance to play Rosicky consistently may be due to his age. The midfielder turns 35 in October, and with many youngsters in the squad, there appears to be no future for Rosicky at the club.
Whilst he plays like he’s in his 20’s, Rosicky’s constant injury setbacks have hampered his career and these injuries have continued to disrupt him this season. As he gets older you can expect these injuries to become more frequent, blunting his purpose in the squad.
He has been Arsenal’s number 7 for the last nine years, but with the likes of Marco Reus in the club sights, there appears to be no more room for Rosicky.
I don’t think any Arsenal fan will be too happy about Rosicky leaving, but in reality it is probably the right thing to do. We have several talented, younger players in his position, and I doubt he will play regularly for the club again.
I don’t think Wenger is actively trying to sell Rosicky, but feel the player is perhaps pushing for a move due to lack of game time in recent seasons.
