Özil played off the Olivier Giroud and scored with a cool finish (24′) as Arsenal went 2-0 up which eventually resulted in a 3-2 win. Mesut’s only shot in the game was the one in which he made to pay, slotting the ball past keeper David Stockdale.

The playmaker created 3 key passes, having the 2nd most touches in the game (93), behind Aaron Ramsey. (122)

The German wizard drifted with Rosicky into wide and central positions, making numerous crosses (7). An impressive pass accuracy of 93.5% (77 passes), with the only player to have more than 50 passes and better this accuracy is team-mate Mathieu Flamini (97.1%, 68 passes).

He made 1 tackle, a blocked shot and 2 interceptions.

The German’s return to the first eleven was pretty impressive. It will be difficult to try and fit both him and Santi Cazorla in the same team, whilst maintaining the level of quality produced from both players when playing in a central role.
