3. Sami Khedira
Arsenal are not blessed with world class defensive midfielders and Arsene Wenger has been known for turning central midfielders or attacking midfielders into mediocre defensive midfielders. Sami Khedira has been out for most of the La liga season due to tearing his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in a friendly match with his national side Germany. So the world cup is a perfect opportunity to see if the Real Madrid player would fit Arsenal’s style of play.
He is considered a dynamic midfielder with “flawless aerial ability” who can cover a lot of ground, recover the ball and quickly join in the team attack with his powerful mid-range shooting. Signing the German international would not only add experience to our side but he would allow the attacking midfielders we have at our club to go forward and not worry about defending and tracking back all the time.
Sami Khedira was heavily missed by Real Madrid, and he will provide good balance for the German national team. Micheal Ballack was out of the 2010 world cup in South Africa, so Joachim Löw decided to call up a fairly un known Khedira to the squad and he played in all 7 games for the Germans. He is now a first team regular for club and country however with fantastic young talent in Illarramendi and Isco and also the old head in Xabi Alonso, it will be very hard for Sami Khedira to get a place back in the team following his long term injury.
