3) Goalkeeper Curse Continues
This isn’t an Arsenal issue, as Petr Cech had a relatively quiet game between the sticks. However, his opposite number in the Stoke team, had arguably the greatest game of his career. The classic saying with Arsenal fans, is that rival goalkeepers become world class, but only against Arsenal, and that was the case here. Young English international Jack Butland really helped Stoke avoid a pummelling, as he pulled off 5 world class saves against the Arsenal onslaught. The Gunners can take some pleasure in this knowledge, as it shows that only one player slowed the goal tally, as Arsenal had played better in every other position. The confidence at the Emirates is getting better every week.
