Arsenal are back in Champions League action and will face PSG on Wednesday night in what is likely to be the decider for who wins the group.
The Gunners will be desperate to finally finish top of their Champions League group and hopefully get a favourable draw for the last 16. Having already qualified for the last 16, the focus can now be on finishing ahead of PSG to top the group and a win on Wednesday would guarantee that. This would then enable Wenger to rest a few key players for the away game against FC Basel. That would be hugely beneficial for the squad during a busy festive period, so it is important he selects the right players to get the job done on Wednesday. Here’s 3 players who needs to start against PSG for that to happen.
1 – Granit Xhaka
Wenger left Xhaka out of the Manchester United line up as he felt Coquelin and Elneny were more experienced for that game. I’m not sure if that is the case, especially for Elneny, but it will be interesting to see if Xhaka is put back into the team against PSG. I feel Arsenal need Xhaka in the heart of the midfield, especially in Cazorla’s absence. Arsenal need a midfielder at the heart of the game that can pass both long and short. The Gunners spent a lot of money on Xhaka and we’ve seen what he can do – hopefully Wenger gives him a chance in a big game like this as against Tottenham he played perhaps his best game in an Arsenal shirt to date.
