The long summer has finally come to a close and Arsenal return to competitive football action this weekend, facing Premier League champions Chelsea in the Community Shield.
The Gunners, defending FA Cup champions, won the trophy last season and will be looking to retain their crown this term- but Arsene Wenger has never managed to defeat a Blues side managed by Jose Mourinho.
On top of this, Chelsea are unbeaten in eight games against Arsenal and will be confident going into the match due to the strength in depth they boast.
If Arsenal are to come out on top, then they will need to get the better out of the following three players. Hit the navigation links to advance through pages.
1. Eden Hazard
The likely absence of Diego Costa is good news for Arsenal- but they will still have their hands full keeping PFA Player Of The Year Eden Hazard quiet, as he continues his push to become one of the finest player’s in world football.
Jose Mourinho recently claimed he enjoyed a better season than Cristiano Ronaldo last season, which is a bold statement, and Hazard will be determined to prove himself amongst the highest bracket of footballers this forthcoming season.
With the European Championships at the end of the campaign, Belgium vice-captain Hazard will be looking to enjoy a fine season and enter the competition in France at the highest level. He will want to get started straight away, with the annual curtain raiser the perfect platform to get things started.
