1. Stefanos Kapino – 1. FSV Mainz 05
As may have been the case with Zelenika, the name ‘Stefanos Kapino’ may not ring many bells with the Arsenal fans. However, Kapino is perhaps the most talented goalkeeper on this list, and looks set for a big future. The youngster currently plays for Bundesliga side Mainz, having recently signed for the German side in a deal worth a reported £1.5m. However, a sizeable offer for Arsenal would certainly be enough to convince Mainz to sell their new goalkeeper, despite them only having just signed him.
Before signing for Mainz, Kapino played for Greek Super League side Panathinaikos, who have recently signed former Middlesbrough goalkeeper Luke Steele. He impressed for them last season, having been number one goalkeeper throughout the duration of the season, an impressive achievement indeed considering his young age. Particularly when you consider the fact that most goalkeepers mature in their 30s, the fact that Kapino was starting league games for one of the best sides in Greece at the age of just 19 is mind-blowing.
He is considered by many to be Greece’s next big goalkeeper, and is already touted by many as the best goalkeeper Greece currently have at their disposal – again, this is amazing considering his young age. His talent will only progress further next season, whether it be for Mainz or for the Gunners, but Stefanos Kapino is certainly one to look out for. He may still be young, but for a man of such young age, Kapino has extraordinary composure and experience. With great mobility and lightning-quick reactions, Kapino would fit right into the Gunners’ set-up, and look to challenge both Wojciech Szczesny and David Ospina for the number one spot for many years to come.
