3. Please no Cleverley!
The final story that caught my eye this week was for the wrong reasons. Manchester United want Thomas Vermaelen and in exchange, we’ll get Tom Cleverley. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to laugh or cry. Laugh because even the suggestion that Arsène wants to bring in Cleverley is preposterous. Or cry because in actual fact, he rates him and wants to give him a spot in our midfield. Surely not. After the high of signing Özil last season, and the links this season to players such as Balotelli, Schweinsteiger and Alexis Sanchez, bringing in Tom Cleverley would be a monumental come down. Vermaelen has denied the links to Manchester United, stating that he still has a year left on his contract. Now all we need is Wenger to come out and say that Cleverley will never pull on an Arsenal shirt. I need confirmation. It’s too hard to bare thinking about.
