Arsenal have enjoyed a tremendous transfer window so far, with Alexis Sanchez, Mathieu Debuchy, Calum Chambers and David Ospina arriving in North London. Arsene Wenger has splashed the cash, identified what is necessary to bring in and done some tremendous business- but the club can’t sit back and enjoy their success yet.
The Gunners are still in need of another addition. The loss of Thomas Vermaelen leaves the club lacking central defensive options, as Johan Djourou moved to Hamburg and Ignasi Miquel doesn’t look up to scratch. Arsenal are also still chasing a defensive midfielder, which they have been all summer. Sami Khedira has been flirted with, numerous names have been linked but there has been nothing solid.
The likelihood is that Arsenal will now sign just one more player that can fill both of these roles. A player that can command the Arsenal midfield and stop opposition attacks before they develop, as well as covering in defence when necessary. These players are hard to come by, and usually command a fairly hefty fee- but there are top players potentially available.
Here, I identify three options for Arsenal that will give the Gunners exactly what they need. Just one of these players could make Arsene Wenger’s side Premier League title favourites.
