3 French National Players Arsenal Could Sign

2. Mathieu Debuchy

The French full back signed for Newcastle united in January 2013, for a reported £5.5 million and has impressed throughout in his first year and a half in England and the premier league. His good form has been noticed by the French national manager Didier Deschamps and he was picked in the 2014 world cup squad and too challenge for his place with the former Arsenal right back Bacary Sagna.

The big question for many of the French fans was who would start in their first group game in Brazil and indeed it was Debuchy and he impressed me throughout as he showed his qualities with and without the ball. When on the attack he looks very comfortable and can go down the line or cut in, but also when defending he looks quick, powerful and strong against wingers.

As Arsenal are in desperate need of a right back to replace Bacary Sagna, I think Arsene should look at the Newcastle player very closely at this world cup and measure his options between signing either the Ivorian international Serge Aurier or Debuchy. Due to Newcastle paying around £5.5 million they would probably look to make a profit on the attacking full back so he may cost around £8-£10 million which is very similar to Serge Aurier’s price tag.

For now the right back is content at Newcastle, however if a big club like Arsenal, with champions league football came along with a big offer, I find it hard to believe he would turn down a move to London and join some of his French colleagues.
