3 Big Signings Arsenal Could Still Pull Off

2. Marco Reus

The potential signing of Marco Reus is a lot more unlikely than that of William Carvalho, but then who would have touted Arsenal to sign Mesut Özil at this stage last year? It’s unlikely that Marco Reus will even leave Borussia Dortmund this summer, but if he’s available, what’s to stop Arsenal moving for him? He’s bound to prefer a move to Arsenal rather than Liverpool, and previous favourites Barcelona are unlikely to make a move after signing Neymar and Luis Suárez in recent seasons.

So, with Reus rejecting a new contract with Dortmund, leaving him potentially available for transfer, will Arsenal pounce? A more likely move is Bayern Munich, but a Gooner can dream!

German newspaper Bild described the Reus contract situation as follows: “The perfect storm for Arsenal? Quite possibly so. Arsenal would be able to bid this summer and then remove any danger of the player going to Bayern Munich, and perhaps also give Dortmund more money than they’d get for the player next season.”

It makes sense, of course – Dortmund would do anything to avoid yet another player going to Bayern Munich. The Gunners have also recently as favourites to snatch one of Dortmund’s prized assets by German media outlet Die Walt. Who knows? Reus could well be on his way to Arsenal.
