2. Gibbs and Chambers up for the fight
The return of the FA Cup allowed Wenger to rotate his regular players, and to give others a chance to show their worth. At the start of the season, Kieran Gibbs and Calum Chambers were both regular starters. The English pair were brought in, and both put in accomplished performances. Kieran Gibbs replaced the in-form Nacho Monreal, and almost played as a seasoned left winger. Gibbs’ hard work down the left, eventually paid dividends when his simple pass across for Giroud to score and to kick start Arsenal’s game. He hardly put a foot wrong in the game, and it was clearly evident that he wants his place back in the starting eleven.
Playing at the other side of defence, was Calum Chambers. The right back looked sharp, refreshed and composed on the right side of defence, where he was up against the tricky Albert Adomah. Chambers for me, really indicated a huge sign of improvement. He put in a real magnificent shift, further emphasising his fantastic work rate. He was there to provide overlapping runs, and even made lung busting sprints to ensure his team-mates had backup. It was a pleasure seeing the pair displaying their quality and desire.
