The tabloids will have you believed that Mesut Ozil was a flop last season, those of us that know better make it clear that it wasn’t the case at all. However, it’s impossible to argue that Ozil struggled to adapt to his new surroundings at times and was caught out on several occasions. This is far from a criticism, as it happens to the best- remember how Laurent Koscielny struggled in his debut year?
With one year, and a World Cup, under his belt since moving to North London, Ozil will hit the ground running in August. An arrival of a defensive midfielder behind him will allow Ozil the freedom he needs, while a top-class finisher ahead of him will be able to put away the chances he is given.
The Arsenal jigsaw is set to be completed this summer, if everyone runs smoothly, and Ozil will be the central figurehead to any success that the Gunners can hope to achieve.
