Chelsea midfielder and former Gunner Cesc Fabregas has revealed something quite bizarre..
Despite playing alongside the likes of Xavi, Iniesta, even Matic.. Fabregas made a shocking announcement when asked who his favourite midfield partner was.
“I had two years playing next to Flamini and he covered me,” Fabregas told the Football Daily. “He covers so much ground.
“If I say Iniesta or Xavi — yeah, it’s fantastic for the eyes but in real football it’s not real for me.
“But if I had to choose one it would have to be between Gilberto Silva and Flamini.”
Gilberto Silva, OK I understand, but Flamini, really?!
Yes I am aware that Flamini was a lot better during his first spell at the club, and his stamina was certainly beneficial for the team. But surely he doesn’t compare to Xavi, Iniesta, Gilberto etc.
Cesc’s reasoning seems to be that the Frenchman covered a lot of ground. That highlights the Spaniard’s unwillingness to do that side of the game. Alongside Xavi, he may have had to run a little more than he would have liked. Flamini’s running allowed for Cesc to concentrate on his creative work, and didn’t he do it wonderfully…
